Singapore Chinatown ★ Street of Culture

Chinatown [牛车水] is named after the bullock cart was used to carry the fresh water by its residents. It’s offers more than a name when it comes to heritage. To me, it is a distinct of heritage. It’s reflecting how its residents were living during a very long time ago and all these are being reflected to nowadays people. It’s a distinct that featuring the Chinese culture and the heritage part.

The moment you alight from the MRT station [Chinatown Station], strong sense of Chinese cultural decoration is all around you.

Typical Chinese lantern, the architecture, and even the ambience. It’s all about the Chinese heritage.

I’ve been to Junker Street in Malacca. The ambience is more or less the same. Stalls selling souvenir are everywhere. Chinese knots, key chain, chopsticks, Kebaya [its part of Chinese culture], Chinese hand-hold fans and etc. You can even found some antique that featuring with strong Chinese culture here. Like jade, statue, decoration, and etc.

This is Chinatown food street.

Strong sense of Chinese culture even the stalls’ design, the tables and chairs, the environment.

The wall painting I found along the Chinatown food street.

I was seems like falling into a time tunnel and get back to very long long time ago. Seeing everything that well designed like old time. The mobile stall, the decoration, the lantern, the people there.

The restaurants besides were designed like the Chinatown. You can smell the smell of Chinese’s heritage everywhere.
